From 2020 until 2024, TransPosition was engaged by Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, providing transport modelling and data analysis services to examine the distribution of road user charges across Queensland households. For this process, we created a synthetic database of people, vehicles, and households using population synthesis approaches which was then integrated with outputs from our Queensland TPACS model. This allowed us to model the direct effects of alternative charging policies on travel behaviour as well as the indirect effects through incorporation of a price elasticity ownership model. Alongside this database we also created a bespoke analysis tool using Python which allowed TMR to explore and visualise the data as well as customize specific inputs and outputs.
